Rexfab Inaugurates its New Factory
Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada, August 31, 2016 – With clients, suppliers, partners, employees, and friends in attendance, Rexfab Inc. proudly and officially inaugurated its new plant in the Sherbrooke Regional Industrial Park. The expansion project has already resulted in significant increases in both the sales figures of this company, which specializes in the manufacture of systems and equipment for the food industry, and in its workforce (a 34% increase in the latter case).
Founded in 1990, and previously located in Brompton’s industrial park, Rexfab Inc. is now well-settled into its premises at 4845 Robert-Boyd Street. The company’s relocation—which required the construction of a new building covering 17 000 ft.2 and more than $1.65M in investments—has made it possible to consolidate 23 full-time jobs and to create 12 new jobs, in engineering, mechanical design, and automation, in particular. The number of hires is three times higher than the number originally anticipated. In addition, Rexfab requires the services of six subcontractors on a full-time basis.
Operating out of its new premises since April 2016, the company is already experiencing significant growth in its orders. “We have reached the point of introducing a night shift for design. When our facilities reach their full capacity, it will be time to move on to the second phase of the project, which could occur much earlier than planned if the trend continues,” explained Michel Auger, Rexfab Vice-President, noting that in its expansion project, the business had planned for the construction of a second building the same size as the first.
“Thanks to our clients, we work on projects not only in Canada but also in the Unites States, Mexico, and Latin America. We even have some customers in Europe. We owe our success to our corporate values, and to our commitment to developing new markets. On the other hand, we realize that behind the equipment are people, human capital. Thus, we strive to provide our employees with a safe and stimulating work environment, and to support each of our projects with very personalized customer service. The relationship of trust that subsequently develops is our forte,” added Rexfab President Pierre Meunier.
In carrying out its expansion project, the business was able to rely on support from Sherbrooke Innopole in terms of its relocation. “Rexfab was the first company to buy one of the new lots made available following the extension of the Sherbrooke Regional Industrial Park. It even took steps before Robert-Boyd Street was built, a demonstration of its determination. It has done remarkable work, and we are very pleased to have contributed to its plans. In light of its professionalism and its tenacity, there is no doubt that, with this momentum, Rexfab will continue its growth,” noted Josée Fortin, Director General of Sherbrooke Innopole.
Since acquiring the business in 2008, owners Meunier and Auger have taken Rexfab to the top in the fields of industrial baking and chocolate-making, focusing on values such as innovation, integrity, respect, and commitment. The company specializes in the design, manufacturing, and installation of automated production and product handling systems, as well as conveyors. Its equipment is used by Grupo Bimbo, Hershey’s, Weston Bakeries, Flowers Foods, and Sherbrooke’s Boulangerie Georges.
